When the hunt began for partners that made sense for Granite Data Pro, there was a massive list of potentials to work through. Should we start with a major cloud service provider as a data-first company? Maybe approach the partnership managers we’ve worked with at other companies? Or maybe go with those that promised to make us rich with the best commissions? (yuck.)
Ultimately, the decision didn’t come down to any of those things. It came down to who our clients have the most excitement around. After all, when a client can get excited about technology, it makes it that much easier to dive deeper into that tech and mine for gold. And boy… There’s a lot of gold on the Klaviyo platform.
Here are five reasons we’re most excited about being able to call Granite Data Pro an official Klaviyo partner:
Klaviyo Is Growing — Fast.
By the numbers, Klaviyo is growing rapidly:
- Founded by CEO Andrew Bialecki and CPO Ed Hallen in 2012.
- Employs over 2,000 people, supporting 143,000+ customers.
- IPO’d at a $9.2 billion valuation in September 2023.
- Serves as the recommended email solution partner for Shopify Plus.
Ecommerce companies can’t seem to praise this company enough — and it’s easy to understand why.
Klaviyo’s Shopify integration is top-notch. It works nearly out-of-the-box to generate a Product Catalog, which can then be used with marketing automations they call “Flows” and one-off sends called “Campaigns”. The platform also supports mobile messaging natively with great pricing compared to some other top competitors on the Shopify marketplace.
They’re Only 1% Done.
Spend any amount of time listening to CEO Bialecki talk about the company and you’ll hear him repeat one statement:
“We’re only 1% done.”
This mentality is engrained throughout the company. We’ve yet to encounter an employee saying “no” to a request. They’re 110% committed to helping partners and clients do what they want to do with their product. That type of empowerment is rare in the marketing automation/email service provider space where best practices can easily trump innovation on any given day.
They Want To Expand Beyond Ecommerce.
In our first discussion with the Klaviyo Partner team, we confided that we have far more conversations with publishers and media companies than we do with eCommerce brands. I suppose it’s the nature of the beast after deeply entrenching ourselves in publishing for 15+ years.
Rather than disqualify or downplay the partnership opportunity, their eyes lit up. They were excited that we have a foothold in media. It’s one of the verticals they’ve been trying to break into (how’s that for synergy?).
And that’s why this next reason is a feature that we’re particularly excited about…
Klaviyo Launched a Customer Data Platform (CDP).
In August 2023, just before their IPO, Klaviyo launched a CDP. It’s easy to for any customer to try out with minimal friction. For clients that don’t have the budget for a dedicated CDP (or want to minimize tech sprawl), this could be a gamechanger.
Klaviyo Partner team assures us that the goal for their CDP aligns with our own. They want to make the features found in traditional CDPs more easily accessible to smaller businesses. They want to support teams without the staff required for standalone CDP efforts.
I can’t wait to explore this feature more, as CDPs can easily cost most businesses thousands of dollars per month.
Klaviyo AI has arrived.
Artificial intelligence and machine learning aren’t optional for a lot of publishers, media companies, and DTC brands today. Many are looking to plug holes in their current tech stack with AI. Platforms that aren’t proactive about adding AI features and enhancements are at risk of ending up on the chopping block. They’ll be replaced with vendors who are.
I got to join for an early preview of Klaviyo AI where they demonstrated the three ways they’re making Klaviyo AI functionality available to customers:
Segments AI
Segments AI lets you create customer groups easily by describing them in plain language. This tool uses advanced AI to translate your descriptions into specific customer segments within Klaviyo.
You can enter descriptions like “active users in the last 30 days” or “people who viewed a product but didn’t buy in the last 60 days,” and Segments AI will create those groups for you automatically.
If the created segment looks good, you can save it. If not, you can tweak your description and try again. This feature makes targeting specific groups of customers more straightforward by automating the process of creating segments based on your criteria.
Email AI
Email AI allows you to input descriptions in simple language to automatically generate subject lines and email blocks, including layouts that might feature text blocks with AI-written copy, images, various column layouts, buttons, and more.
Designed to integrate seamlessly with Klaviyo’s drag-and-drop email editor, Email AI can replace or add to existing sections of your email with just a few clicks. Start with a prompt and Email AI will present several draft options, from which you can select and further customize by adding specific images, links, or tweaking the copy.
Predictive Analytics
Generative AI remains controversial in many circles of media, but predictive analysics have been used for decades by publishers looking to maximize their customer retention efforts. With Klaviyo’s predictive analytics, machine learning adds predictions like next order date, spending potential, churn risk, and more at a profile (customer) level.
Combine this with other metrics and insights about a customer and you’ve got an incredibly powerful platform for reaching your audience with the right message at the right time.
